Ingredients: Our compost consists of leaf and yard waste (no grass clippings) which is abundant with carbon, microbes and nutrients. We then blend in cranberries, which are a nitrogen rich ingredient containing phosphorus, potassium, magnesium and calcium. In addition, they are high in tannins which will help naturally protect your flowers, plants, vegetables and grasses from weeds, pests, and disease. We also blend in cranberry pomace, which is a natural compost and is known as nature's fertilizer, it can help stop the growth of bacteria and fungi that will suffocate your plants.
How we make our compost
Here at A-Plus Waste & Recycling Services we have the ability to produce our compost on a commercial scale. We take many steps in our composting process to ensure a great end product. We start with windrowing our compost in layers of carbon and nitrogen rich materials trying to keep our carbon 35 to a nitrofgen ratio of 1. We monitor our compost windrows keeping track of many elements such as weather, moisture but the most crucial is windrow temperature which assures proper thermophilic microbial activity. High temperatures and timely turning assure the destruction of weed seeds and keeps the compost from going anaerobic. Once ready to be moved to the curing pad the compost cures for at least 3-4 weeks and then it is ready to be moved to our screening area were we screen it to 1/2" minus. The end result is a dark, rich, humus-like product with a excellent balance of nutrients, Ph, and an abundance of microorganisms that will greatly benefit your soil or any planting application.
